SLEIGHTS NEAR WHITBY

Whitby 4 miles.

Sleights is ideal for both a coastal and country holiday. Just 4 miles from the picturesque Yorkshire coastline, it is also on the edge of dramatic moors country, littered with attractive villages and scenery. Though quiet, Sleights boasts two pubs, a fish and chip shop, an antique shop (with cafe), a butchers, bakery and a post office. The North Yorkshire Steam Railway terminus is a few minutes' drive, together with regular public transport to and from the nearby port of Whitby. Whitby lies at the mouth of the River Esk and is ideally situated for exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire. It is an atmospheric town of winding streets and hidden alleys, with a picturesque harbour, safe sandy beaches and, of course, the Abbey, reached by the famous 199 steps.

The Property: Moor View Cottage

Set in an elevated, hillside position on the edge of the village of Sleights in the North York Moors National Park, this superb detached bungalow enjoys a lovely peaceful location, with the sea just visible over the rolling fields to one side. Immaculately finished inside, this practical and modern property was first built in the 1920's, and offers attractive wooden flooring, an enclosed garden with patio and a small garden room, opening out from the lounge. Scenes from Harry Potter were filmed at nearby Grosmont station and you can catch the steam train down to Pickering or take a stress-free train journey to Whitby without having to worry about parking! A great place for a quiet holiday - a warm and welcoming property with all the attractions of the area on the doorstep.

Previous Visitors' Comments
The cottage far exceeded our expectations. The decor was high quality and the cleanliness exceptional. The garden and patio were very well-cared for. Also, Moor View's location is perfect with it's quick access to both the Moors and the coast. For the first time ever with a holiday cottage, we plan on returning.
